It is called that California Bar Exam is one of the most difficult exam in the United States.
It is because
1. the cut score is 1,440 which is the next highest score, following Delaware, and
2. the score weight is 2/3 Writing (including Essays and Performance Tests) and 1/3 Multiple Choice.
From the exam in July, 2017, the exam was changed – 1st day is writing, 2nd day is multiple choice – the score weight becomes 50: 50. So the first issue was partially solved. I said partially because the essay questions were mixed 2 or more subjects, the number of question were increased and the questions themselves became more tricky, the writing exam is still more difficult than any other state. Either way, hot topic is 1st one. California Supreme Court amended that it had authority to determine the cut score. Since the examiner studied the case and public comments for the score were ended, the decision may be made soon and effective from the recent exam, July 2017. Will see what kind of decision will be made.
